Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread

  • 200g beef mince

  • 200g pork mince

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp all spice powder

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 3/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Grate or mince onions.

  2. Cut bread into cubes

  3. Mix bread with onions. If onion juice does not make bread soggy, add a splash of milk. Soak for 1 min.

  4. Mix in remaining ingredients.

  5. Shape meatballs then cook them.

Gravy

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  1. Make a roux
  2. Add beef stock
  3. If cooking meatballs in gravy, add them here
  4. When gravy has thicken (about 8-10 min), add cream and simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
